On January 1, it became illegal for anyone not registered with the Department of Health and Human Services as a medical Marijuana patient, caregiver, or dispensary operator to grow or possess Marijuana in the State of Maine.
Legislators working with the Maine Marijuana Policy Iniitiative, the Maine Civil Liberties Union, Medical Marijuana Caregivers of Maine, the Maine Tea Party/Maine Refounders, have introduced legislation that addresses this and other the key problems with the current law.
Some of the changes "An Act To Amend the Maine Medical Use of Marijuana Act to Reflect the Will of the People and Protect Patient Privacy" would bring about include:
In addition, MMPI, is working with our allies to introduce some exciting new legislation regarding the cultivation and that we will tell you more about soon -- "An Act to Remove Criminal Penalties for Possession of up to 5 Ounces of Marijuana" and "An Act to Decriminalize Cultivation of Small Amounts of Marijuana for Personal Use".
